Formatted E-Mail

FIZ AutoDoc provides an e-mail interface which allows comfortable ordering of your documents via formatted e-mail. Format guidelines assure that your e-mail will be automatically fed in the FIZ AutoDoc system and transformed into a regular FIZ AutoDoc order.

Why order via formatted e-mail?

• You do not have to log on to FIZ AutoDoc.
• You can place one or multiple orders simultaneously.
• You may generate your e-mails via your corporate document management system.
• You can request an additional e-mail order confirmation. Using the linked order number contained in this e-mail will allow you to track the order status at any time
• Thus you will benefit from FIZ AutoDoc's capability of automatic order processing while saving time and effort!

However, please be aware that ordering via formatted e-mail does not support the following interactive FIZ AutoDoc features, i.e.

• automatic verification of entered bibliographic data
• automatic information about unavailability of requested delivery options
• display of document based copyright fee
• check back before manual processing by FIZ AutoDoc Service Team
• check for eJournal subscriptions and in-house holdings (only available with FIZ AutoDoc corporate solutions)

Therefore: If ordering via e-mail interface is not sufficient for you, please take a closer look at the other interfaces to FIZ AutoDoc. These interfaces even allow more convenience due to further customization options.

Format Guidelines

The following requirements have to be met before ordering via formatted e-mail:

• LoginID
  A FIZ AutoDoc or STN login ID  or is needed. All orders included in a formatted e-mail will be assigned to one definite loginID. The assignment to this loginID will be made according to the e-mail address and subject line.
  
  
• E-Mail Subject Line
  The subject line must contain the following information:"Company Name" followed by "AutoDoc Order" (or "Company Department" followed by "AutoDoc Order"). Examples:

"Subject: XYZ Company AutoDoc Bestellung" "Subject: XYZ Company Research Department AutoDoc Order" etc.

Please note: Before sending any formatted e-mails to FIZ AutoDoc, you have to inform us which e-mail subject line and e-mail address you are going to use for all of your orders. Contact the FIZ AutoDoc Service Team for any further information and to place a test order.

• E-Mail Format
  The e-mail must be sent in MIME-format (Content Type: text/plain) to autodoc(at)fiz-karlsruhe(dot)de.
  
  

• E-Mail Layout
  The order information is submitted in a standardized format in the e-mail body.

Several orders can be sent within one e-mail (max. 50).

Each order must be separated by EOR in the last line followed by a blank line. This also applies to the end line of your order. Example:

The formatted e-mail contains various data fields (bibliographic data, delivery mode information, user specific data etc.). The customer's delivery address information is not included here, i.e. the order will always be delivered to the permanent address specified with the loginID. The data fields consist of two expressions: field name and field value. If possible, field name and field value should be entered in one line. Examples:
