It's not easy being green. Did you know that more than 20 eco-unfriendly processing steps go into a traditional pair of pre-washed jeans? During the last decade, many denim manufacturers have begun changing the environmental hazards of their processing by recycling their wastes and greening their production steps. With STN®, we will investigate some of the new green trends in denim manufacturing.

Energy on STN International
Registered users may access the ENERGY database via STN International. ENERGY on STN International offers a large variety of search options and can be searched together with various other engineering databases, for example in the file clusters FUELS, ENGINEERING, and ENVIRONMENT.

ETDEWEB – ENERGY Web Version
FIZ Karlsruhe’s German customers may access ETDWEB free of charge. Access to the database is given through IP resolver technology, i.e. all customers with a German IP address are immediately  connected to the database. Go to the start page of ETDEWEB. You will receive the message "Your country is authenticated for access". By clicking  "Start searching" you may immediately start your search in the database.

“ETDEWEB versus the World-Wide-Web: A Specific Database/Web Comparison” (http://www.etde.org/ETDEOA237.pdf) is the title of a study performed by Debbie Cutler, DOE/OSTI, comparing ETDEWEB, Google and Google Scholar. The study shows that if a user is looking to discover relevant documents of a specific topic, each of the three systems will bring back a considerable volume of data, but different. Almost 90 % of the documents from ETDEWEB were unique to this system.
