President & CEO
Sabine Brünger-Weilandt has been President & CEO of FIZ Karlsruhe since 2003. She holds a humanities degree and acquired management experience in senior positions at international enterprises and organizations (Deutsche Bank, Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt, Greenpeace, BBDO Group, and others). Mrs. Brünger-Weilandt holds various honorary positions. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Deutsche Nationalbibliothek (DNB), Frankfurt a. M., the Advisory Board of the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL), Munich, of the Foundation Council of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Research and Educational Information (DIPF), Frankfurt/M., and of the Scientific Advisory Board of TIB Hannover. She advises the Executive Board of the Leibniz Association in matters of information infrastructure. In this function, she has been commissioned to lead the workgroup “Fachinformationsinfrastruktur“ (scientific information infrastructure) which in 2009 presented the “Rahmenkonzept für die Fachinformationsinfrastruktur in Deutschland“ (framework concept for a scientific information infrastructure in Germany) to the “Gemeinsame Wissenschaftskonferenz des Bundes und der Länder” (GWK – Joint Science Conference ). She also chaired the committee “The future of the information infrastructure“ (Kommission Zukunft der Informationsinfrastruktur – KII) which developed on behalf of the GWK an overall concept for an information infrastructure for Germany and submitted it to the GWK in 2011.
