Mathematics

Offering information services in mathematics is one of FIZ Karlsruhe’s key tasks. Our high expertise in this area results from the fact that the editorial offices „Zentralblatt für Mathematik“ and „Zentralblatt für Didaktik der Mathematik“ have been integrated into FIZ Karlsruhe with its foundation in 1977. Today, FIZ Karlsruhe provides a comprehensive offer of web services in mathematics:

  • Zentralblatt MATH – the most comprehensive reference database in research mathematics
  • MathEduc – a reference database in mathematics education
  • STMA-Z – a reference database in statistics
  • A mathematics web portal
  • The ELibM in EMIS – an open access virtual library in mathematics

The Mathematics Portal offers a central access point to all of FIZ Karlsruhe’s
mathematics databases, a new web search engine for mathematics , and special pages dealing with selected topics from applied mathematics, math education, and math history.

Zentralblatt MATH is the world’s largest and most comprehensive reference database in mathematical research. Convenient search facilities as well as links to the electronic full-text versions of the articles or to document delivery systems make Zentralblatt MATH a unique information service about mathematical research and navigation tool for users interested in mathematical literature.

MathEduc (formerly MATHDI) is the only international reference database offering a world-wide overview of current and recent literature on mathematics and computer science education.

STMA-Z is an international reference database in statistics targeted at the statistics community and the users of statistical methods. The structure and the facilities are the same as for Zentralblatt MATH, and both services overlap in the area of mathematical statistics.

The Electronic Library in Mathematics (ELibM) offered through the European Mathematical Information Service (EMIS) is an open access virtual library. It provides access to freely accessible electronic journals or electronic versions of printed journals in mathematics.
