Rolled-up IPC Core Codes removed from Patent Databases on STN

Rolled-up IPC core codes have now been removed from patent databases on STN to deliver more consistent and streamlined IPC content, according to the simplification of the IPC having been in force since January 2011.

In 2006, the IPC reform brought about two levels of the IPC (advanced and core level IPC) and rolled-up core codes were introduced for each advanced level IPC code. This practice simplified searching at the different levels of the IPC across the various patent authorities.
In January 2011 the simplification of the IPC came into force which reverted to a one level IPC and abandoned the old core level IPC.
As a consequence of these IPC changes, the European Patent Office stopped rolling up core codes and removed all rolled-up core codes from the INPADOC data collection.

Rolled-up IPC core codes have now been removed from the following databases on STN:

-  CA/CAplus family of databases
-  EPFULL
-  FRFULL
-  GBFULL
-  INPADOCDB/INPAFAMDB
-  PATDPAFULL
-  PCTFULL
-  USPATFULL/USPAT2/USPATOLD
-  WPINDEX/WPIDS/WPIX

In the DWPI databases the rolled-up core codes have been removed from the set of current IPCs only.


IFICLS Updates Resume on STN

Updates to the IFICLS database are expected to resume in week 2012/3. Weekly updates will occur regularly, thereafter.

Weekly SDI runs will resume the third or fourth week in January following weekly updates. Monthly SDI runs for IFICLS will resume on February 1, 2012.

Structure Graphics Have Been Added to Abstracts for MARPAT^® and CA^SM/CAplus^SM on SciFinder^® and STN^®

View chemical substance images for more patent records with the addition of over 79,000 structure graphics that have been added to abstracts of Markush patent records on STN^® and SciFinder^®.

Removal of ITRD and PATIPC databases from STN^®
ITRD and PATIPC databases were removed from STN on December 17, 2011.  ITRD was removed from STN by request of the database producer.  PATIPC is no longer needed as all of this current IPC information can be obtained from the IPC thesauri on STN.

Removal of ITRD, AEROSPACE, AGRICOLA and IMSPATENTS from STN Easy.
ITRD, AEROSPACE, AGRICOLA and IMSPATENTS are no longer available in STNEasy.

STN^® on the Web^SM now Compatible with Microsoft Windows 7

STN^® on the Web^SM has been enhanced with an updated BLAST plugin installer and is now fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 7. Please refer to the updated Operating System and Browser Support chart on the STN on the Web login page for enhanced compatibilities.

Online Access to Very Large Chemical Structure Images Enhanced on STN^®

Save time and increase efficiency with the enhanced ability to display very large chemical structure images on STN. Previously, very large chemical structure images were not available for display. Instead of “STRUCTURE DIAGRAM TOO LARGE FOR DISPLAY - AVAILABLE VIA OFFLINE PRINT”,  these images will now display online and appear in transcripts.

This enhancement is available to customers using STN^® on the Web^SM and STN Express^®, Version 8.5. Customers using STN Express, Version 8.4 or earlier will need to upgrade to take advantage of this enhancement.
