Publishing & Legal Issues

In principle, it is up to the publisher to decide whether additional crystal structure information should be deposited, but authors may send their own data sets not intended for publication in a journal to FIZ Karlsruhe for publication in the ICSD database. Authors should keep in mind, however, that some journals do not accept contributions that contain published data, independent of the kind of publication (in this case, as a record in the ICSD database).
If, after a certain period of time, the submitted structure has not been published, we reserve the right to contact you in order to find out whether publication in a journal is still intended. After a period of at least three years, FIZ Karlsruhe will obtain the right to publish the deposited data in the ICSD database without further enquiry, unless the author has given sufficient notice in writing of his refusal of publication in the ICSD.
