Overview: STN on the Web IPAA
FIZ Karlsruhe has developed a set of tools, the "STN Site Administration Tools (SAT)". One of these tools is the "STN on the Web IPAA" tool. The Site Administrator for STN on the Web IPAA is nominated by the individual institution. Prior to taking over the function as administrator and manage/customize the company's IP access and user administration, this person needs to complete a request form and fax it to FIZ Karlsruhe customer service (+49 7247 808 136). She/he also needs to specify the IP address (exact or range). FIZ Karlsruhe in return provides/enables an Administrator Login ID for the "STN on the Web IPAA" tool and provides a pool of STN Login IDs depending on the contract with the individual company / organisation.
Benefits:
- IPAA (IP Address Authorization) access
- User specific settings possible (Alerts, Saved Answer Sets, SET parameters etc.)
- User ID independed from STN Login ID (end-user does not need to know real STN Login IDs / Passwords)
- User data modifiable by administrator
- Statistics (EXCEL or CSV format)
Main features:
- STN provides a pool of STN Login IDs depending on the contract with the individual company / organisation.
- Based on this pool of STN Login IDs, the end-user access is managed by an administrator, located inside your company / organisation
- The pool of STN Login IDs can be extended on request of the administrator.
- Only end-users with an IP address (exact or range) valid for your company/organisation may access STN on the Web.
- Each end-user has to setup an individual "User ID / Password" which is linked (invisible to the end-user) to a real STN Login ID, known only to the administrator. Therefore the end-user does not know the real STN Login ID / Passwords.
- The administrator defines which information the end-user has to specify in order to establish his/her "User ID / Password".
- The end-user "User ID / Password" concept allows the administrator to:
- define the information (Name, E-Mail address, department etc.) the end-user has to specify in order to gain access.
- define a help / information text which assists the end-user when setting up a "User ID / Password".
- create statistics (HTML or EXCEL) based on User ID / User Name
- track invoice details back to individual end-users for budget control etc.
- change user data and user password
- disable "dead" IDs, which are not in use for a certain time (definable by the administrator). The corresponding STN Login IDs are "freed". Individual settings are re-set and join the pool of IDs available for other end-users.
- list the used and free STN Login IDs from the pool of IDs provided by STN and order additional STN Login IDs as soon as more IDs are needed.
- The end-user "User ID / Password" concept allows the end-user to:
- use all STN on the Web features
- set-up his/her own User ID
- keep user specific settings (Alerts, Saved Answer Sets, SET parameters etc.)
