Conduct a search in REGISTRY or ZREGISTRY to obtain an L-number answer set containing structurally related substances. The answer set must include structures, although a structure search is not mandatory.
Click the

Select the L-number answer set you would like to use in the Variable Group (R-group) Analysis Table Tool. Click Next.
Select the substance information to include in the Variable Group Analysis Table. The CAS Registry Number for each answer is automatically saved. Click Next.
Enter a file name to identify the file and indicate where the answers should be downloaded and saved as an .rgp file. Click Save.
Click the
button on the Toolbar to invoke the R-group Analysis Table Tool, a post-processing tool in which the report will be created.
Note: This tool can also be accessed by selecting R-group Analysis Table Tool from the File menu.
Select the .rgp file for analysis. Click Next.
Define the common structure for R-group analysis of the answer set. Use the largest common structure is the default. Click Define Structure.
Note: You can also compare your answer set to a saved structure query OR modify the content of R-groups or rename R-groups, if desired.
The Variable Group Analysis algorithm identifies and displays the largest common structure. Click Next.
In this example, the only other option we are customizing is Fields. Simply click on the Fields button or continue to click Next until you reach the Fields window.
The Fields window of the R-group Analysis Table Tool provides a list of additional fields you may include in the R-group Analysis Table. Highlight the desired content and click Insert to include the field in the table. You can modify the order in which the content appears in the table, if desired.
Click Finish to create the table.
The R-group Analysis Table is displayed and can be saved as an Express table or RTF file, among other options.
