Comprehensive Chemical Structure Searching on STN

This workshop will focus on how to draw chemical structures for searching on STN. This will be from the very basics of structure drawing, leading you to drawing chemical structures with variable features. We will look at some specific databases that are searchable by structure on STN and what information can be found within them.We will also look at the different types of structure search than can be performed on STN and how these vary in the number and types of answers found. Following on from this, we will demonstrate how to find the corresponding bibliographic references that contain our hit structures.There will be plenty of opportunities for hands on practice during this workshop and we welcome any questions and interaction from attendees through the course of the day. It is recommended that attendees are familiar with the basic commands of STN although this is not essential. Databases to be included in this session are CAS REGISTRY, CAplus, WPINDEX/DCR. This free of charge workshop will also include online hands-on practice under the guidance of the course tutors.
