The flow of information and an open exchange are essential for science. Open access enables free access to networked and annotated information. Thus, research results can be made available to a large audience. Many scientific associations and research institutions support this model, for example by publishing scientific open access journals.
What eLibM offers
eLibM is a platform for mathematical open access publications. Editors of OA journals can both publish and produce their journals via eLibM.
eLibM as a publishing platform
Since 1996 eLibM has been providing unlimited access to more than 90 quality-assured open access journals and proceedings series. This free offer enables readers and editors to perform targeted searches, easily browse content, download full texts (and related research data) and establish links to other information offers.
eLibM as a production platform
Since 2018 eLibM has been operating a web-based application for managing and performing peer-reviewed publishing processes – from the submission to reviewing to publishing. Its technical backbone is the "Open Journal System" (OJS) software that was specifically adapted and enhanced by FIZ Karlsruhe within the scope of a DFG-funded project for the production of mathematical journals.
The offer is flanked by optional value-added services provided by FIZ Karlsruhe, such as technical and organizational support in using the platform, assigning and registering DOIs, editorial services, metadata standardization, reference linking, etc.
Publishers are free to choose the type and scope of services which best meet their needs, at flat fees calculated according to the effort involved.
