zbMATH was developed for mathematicians in research and teaching. The information service offers access to more than 4 million bibliographic entries including reviews and abstracts from mathematical publications worldwide, as well as to references of mathematical software. The search for scientific content is performed in comprehensive references to validated mathematical research from all over the globe. A USP is the possibility to search for mathematical formulas. Author profiles contain aggregated information on authors and their networks as well as on journals. zbMATH users can identify research trends and evaluate mathematical research. Integrated searches on applications for mathematical software are gaining in relevance.
Highest scientific quality standards
The high level of completeness of zbMATH is achieved, among other things, by integrating data contained in “Jahrbuch über die Fortschritte in der Mathematik (1868-1942)“. Thus, zbMATH can continuously reference mathematical research literature since 1868, with a focus on Europe.
An essential prerequisite for the high scientific integrity and quality of the data is the deep formal and content indexing according to transparent, uniform methods and standards.
An international network of more than 7,000 scientists creates abstracts and evaluates the publications, thus making the scientific quality of the articles transparent to the public. This way, zbMATH benefits from a long standing, well-established quality assurance process that can detect and counteract cases of malpractice in the publication business. The community is actively contributes to the creation and quality-assurance of the information.
zbMATH can be directly accessed at zbmath.org. The pricing models are flexible. Usually an IP-based 12-month subscription is made. Subscription fees vary according to the size of the institute. Special prices for certain user groups are also available, please contact our distribution partner Springer Nature,, Heidelberg, or Prof. Hulek, editor-in-chief of zbMATH. Trial access with all features is available upon request.
