The headquarters of FIZ Karlsruhe is located on the north campus of the KIT/Karlsruher Institute for Technology (formerly "Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe"), approx. 12 km north of Karlsruhe in Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen. The main building of FIZ Karlsruhe (building 240) is located approx. 200 m from the main gate (south gate) on the right side. Site plan KIT Campus North

There are several ways to get to us:

By airplane:
From the airports Frankfurt/Main, Stuttgart or Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (Baden-Airpark) you can reach FIZ Karlsruhe by public transport (train to Karlsruhe main station) or by car.

By public transport:
Campus Nord is located near Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen. There are various ways to get there by bus and train from Karlsruhe main station and Karlsruhe city centre. The exact departure times can be obtained from the Karlsruhe Transport Authority (destination stop: KIT Campus Nord Südtor). The Deutsche Bahn timetable provides detailed information on how to get there by train.

By car:
Coming from Frankfurt/M via Mannheim on motorway A67/A6, leave at exit Hockenheim, then take B 36 in the direction of Karlsruhe. Leave at exit Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen/KIT-Campus Nord.

Coming from the north from Frankfurt/Main via Heidelberg on motorway A5, leave at exit Bruchsal and take B35, direction Bruchsal-Bretten. After approximately 3 km, at the outskirts of Bruchsal, turn to the right for Stutensee/Büchenau, and then continue straight on for Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen/KIT-Campus Nord.

Coming from the south from Basel/Stuttgart on motorway A5, leave at exit Karlsruhe-Mitte. Take the direction of Landau (B10). Leave at exit no. 8/9. Take the direction of Mannheim on B 36 up to exit KIT-Campus Nord.

Coming from the west via Landau/Wörth on motorway A65, leave at exit no. 9, then take B 36, direction Mannheim up to exit KIT-Campus Nord.

If you are planning to stay in Karlsruhe and want to get there by car, please note that an environmental sticker is required for certain zones in the center of the city (low emission zones).

From the airport Berlin/Schönefeld you can reach the Berlin departments of FIZ Karlsruhe by public transport or by car.By public transport:


Coming from any direction go to Berlin Hauptbahnhof (main station). At Berlin Hauptbahnhof (main station), please take bus 245 (direction S+U Zoologischer Garten) at S+U Berlin Hauptbahnhof and get off at Franklinstraße.

By car:

Coming from the south via Leipzig/Halle (Saale) on motorway A9, continue on motorway A10. After approximately 10 km, take motorway A115 and follow the road signs for Berlin-Tegel/Berlin-Zentrum/Zehlendorf/Potsdam-Zentrum. After approximately 27 km, at junction 1 (Dreieck Funkturm), keep to the right and continue on motorway A100 in the direction of Hamburg/Wedding/Zentrum/Messedamm ICC. Continue on Halenseestraße, then on Messedamm. After approximately 750 m, turn right onto Kaiserdamm B2/B5. After 2.7 km, take the third exit of the roundabout (Marchstraße). Continue on Marchstraße for about 700 m , then turn onto Franklinstraße. FIZ Karlsruhe is located on your right.

Coming from the west via Hannover, take motorway A2 in the direction of Berlin. Continue on motorway A10, then on motorway A115. Follow the road signs for Berlin-Tegel/Berlin-Zentrum/Zehlendorf/Potsdam-Zentrum.
