On June 19, a special milestone was celebrated in Berlin: the publication of the first comprehensive legal commentary on the Creative Commons Public License (CCPL). Numerous contributors and supporters from the CC community came together on this evening to honor the creation of this groundbreaking work.

The commentary was edited by Franziska Boehm, Ellen Euler, Paul Klimpel, Fabian Rack and John Weitzmann. Not only were four authors (Franziska Boehm, Thomas Hartmann, Grischka Petri and Fabian Rack) from FIZ Karlsruhe significantly involved - FIZ was also instrumental in financing the publication of the book. Without this commitment, the project would hardly have been possible in this form.

A big thank you also goes to the law firm iRights.Law, which made its premises available for the release party and thus provided the perfect setting for an all-round successful evening. In a relaxed atmosphere, we not only toasted the book, but also discussed the importance of free licenses and open knowledge structures.

The commentary tot he CCPL is available free of charge at https://www.scienceopen.com/hosted-document?doi=10.24921/2025.94115974

A big thank you to everyone involved for their commitment - and especially to the editorial team for their tireless work on this important contribution to legal commentary literature in the digital age.
