July 06, 2021 — It is important for future-oriented companies to improve the sustainability and transparency of their business activities in order to meet not only their own requirements, but also those of their business partners and stakeholders. Sustainability has now become an important assessment factor in business.
EcoVadis offers worldwide sustainability ratings for enterprises. FIZ Karlsruhe participated in this assessment by EcoVadis for the second time and was able to improve its former positive result. Sustainability issues such as the environment (for example, the energy consumption of the office buildings), ethics, compliance, purchasing and procurement, and labor and human rights were put to the test.
The new rating places FIZ Karlsruhe in the top quarter of the ranking of companies assessed by EcoVadis. Rated companies include some major players from the chemical, agricultural, and pharmaceutical industries, for example Bayer, BASF, GlaxoSmithKline and Syngenta, some of which have joined forces in the Together for Sustainability (TfS) initiative, but also companies from the information business such as Clarivate. The positive rating of FIZ Karlsruhe shows that sustainability initiatives are not only for large enterprises. Small and medium-sized companies, too, can stand their ground successfully.
